The 2014 season wrapped up in a successful way for Tyler Hawn as he finished seventh in the Autumn Colors Classic to finish the year in fifth in points. tyler-hawn

Hawn started the ACC 50 lap feature in the 14th position, though began to make up ground early. Hawn also diagnosed how the car was handling and used some of the early cautions to head down pit road for adjustments. As the race neared a close, Hawn cracked the top 10 with approximately 12 laps to go and used the final 10 laps to make a couple more passes before finishing up the feature in seventh.

Looking back on this year, including the Classic, this year was Hawn’s best season in OSCAAR to date and that was thanks to consistency.

The Oro Station native kicked off his season with an 11th place finish in the season opener at Sunset Speedway. Return trips to Sunset throughout the year saw more success. At the Don Biederman Memorial, Hawn finished 11th in the first night feature after having to run the B-Main. He then backed it up with a ninth place finish on the second night despite receiving damage during the heat and missing the b-main, therefore having to start at the rear of the field. A eighth place finish in July capped off his four races at Sunset Speedway for 2013, marking his best finish at Sunset over his four year OSCAAR career.

“To run with these guys baffles my mind,” Hawn commented after the July Sunset race. “It’s definitely a goal I’ve wanted to achieve all year. We’re sitting fifth in points. I never thought I’d be sitting there.

“We’re trying a lot of new things. My confidence level’s getting higher. I’m trying to drive the car the way it’s built. Hopefully there’s a win soon. It’s coming, one day we’ll be there.”

The driver of the No. 42 Stewart Carriers Ltd./Belford Haulage/Fox’s Bakery/ TSS Top Shops/Write-It-Out-Loud/Backwoods Maple Syrup/Daley Custom Fab/BELT Conveyor Guarding Chevrolet saw his biggest success of the season at Barrie Speedway in the form of a sixth place finish. From the tightest oval to one of the biggest, Hawn also placed a solid seventh place at Kawartha Speedway.

tyler-hawnHawn also found success at Peterborough Speedway this season, finishing 11th in the Chase for the Colors event despite being involved in a lap one wreck. He would then finish ninth in the second event in August, followed by the aforementioned seventh in the Autumn Colours Classic.

With his best season behind him, look for the progress to continue and Hawn to be contending for top fives in 2014. Thanks to the sponsors for their continued support.
