On Saturday June 29th, 2019 OSCAAR’s finest took over Sunset Speedway for a special OSCAAR ONLY event. All three OSCAAR series arrived in strong numbers and laid down some amazing race action for the fans in attendance. During intermission the OSCAAR loyal were invited onto the track to interact with the cars, teams and drivers. It was a huge success! The look on the fans faces when they get up close to the cars and when they get their picture taken with their favorite driver, is incredible! There is no doubt in our team’s mind that this should take place each season at least once! It is essential in racing today that we engage our fans as often as possible and in as many ways as possible. They truly are the key to our sports longevity, the key to series exposure and therefore vital to keep partnerships alive and generate new opportunities for us all! Hawn Motorsports wants to thank OSCAAR and all its hard-working members for this fantastic opportunity and we would like to thank all the loyal, amazing fans for coming out to support us on Saturday! It was the highlight of the season for our team so far this year!

The racing action this past weekend for our team could not have gone better! Sweeping the heats and features in the Pro Sprint Series as well as the Hot Rod Series was precisely the type of night we had in mind when preparing for the event. Amazing speed from both our #2 cars was shown every lap of the evening. Although we prefer to work and compete for the top positions, it is nice to drive away with one every now and again! Certainly, is less stressful lol.

Tyler Hawn OSCAAR Hot Rod Series

The #2 Fox’s Bakery & Deli / Knightworks Design Hot Rod jumped back into the #1 position in series points with this dominant performance on Saturday. Winning both heats in convincing fashion by several car lengths and then taking the checkered flag in the Feature after lapping nearly the entire field. The #2 is dialed in, running on rails and ready for the next event at Peterborough Speedway on July 6th ,2019. With so many new and gorgeous additions to the Hot Rod series, we anticipate a real surge of talent and competition. But we are very ready!

Dan Hawn OSCAAR Pro Sprint Series

The #2 Specialized Upholstery & Glass Pro Sprint showed dominance of its own on Saturday. Running lap times consistently in the mid 14.0 second range, Dan Hawn was able to easily take and maintain the lead after each of the limited restarts. Even though the late spring weather has cancelled several Pro Sprint events this season, our #2 is running better than ever and is ready for the next event in Grand Bend Speedway this coming weekend! Bash at the Beach should be an interesting event for the Pro Sprint series, and we predict coming home with checkers in hand!

The OSCAAR crew celebrated the life of John Harper (Spider-Man) of the OSCAAR Modified series on Saturday evening with some heart warming gestures, group photos and a moment of silence. We sincerely wish the Harper family warm positive thoughts through this difficult time. His memory will live on through so many folks in the racing community! May he rest peacefully.

The OSCAAR ONLY event provided us with an excellent opportunity to watch several friends and teammates run their cars on Saturday. Dan Hawn said it best I believe when he said “I’m cool as a cucumber when I’m driving! But I’m a complete wreck when I’m watching!”. Having a personal relationship with the drivers competing is extremely stressful. We know the dangers associated with racing and we understand we are NOT in control while spectating. However, all the friends and teammates of Hawn Motorsports fared well this past Saturday. James Stanley and Brad Holmes each picked up Heat Wins in the Pro Sprint series, with James Stanley finishing 2nd in the Feature and Brad Holmes continuing his grip on the Rookie of the Year Award. Adam Hagen and Norm Newman had challenging evenings in their Modified cars but show consistent promise of bigger things as they get comfortable in the series. Norm Newman is the current Rookie of the Year Award leader! The standout difference for these gentlemen, much like the Hawn Motorsports team, is effort! If you put in the hard work, in the shop and on track? It is only a matter of time before you find yourself a top contender! Congrats to all of you on fine performances this past weekend and thank you for your support, assistance and friendship!

Hawn Motorsports seems to have found its groove in the last couple weeks. Dan Hawn is exceeding expectations in the Can-Am Midget #42 car with two top ten finishes in the last two Features, the #2 Pro Sprint car is faster than ever, and the #2 Hot Rod is running very consistent! Our team will continue to work hard, have fun and aim for the top one event at a time!
